Our research group started its work in summer 2005. The long term interest of our group is to set up an ion trap to store single atoms in order to investigate highly non-classical properties of light using the atoms as single photon sources. Presently we are setting up our laboratory and we are planning to capture single ions soon. In the meanwhile we investigate these phenomena in theory. Please find our most recent publications here or learn more about our current research topics.

Our group profits from an international collaboration established in 2005 embracing Prof. Thierry Bastin from Université de Liège, Belgium, Prof. Enrique Solano from the University of the Basque Country, Bilbao, Spain and Humboldt-award winner Prof. Girish S. Agarwal from OSU, Stillwater, USA.

Girish S. Agarwal was recently awarded the title Dr. honoris causa of Université de Liège, Belgium

We congratulate Prof. Girish Agarwal to his election as Fellow of The Royal Society, UK, “for his pioneering work in theoretical quantum optics, particularly the non-classical properties of light and its interaction with atoms”.
